The Power Of Healing With the Mind

Keisha’s Story

I once knew someone named Keisha, a young woman carrying more pain than anyone should. PTSD from a tragic car accident, childhood trauma, and years of struggling to feel safe in her own skin. She smoked to cope, ran from therapy, and carried a fear of living alone, driving, even building a future.

When we met, I became part of her healing journey. I encouraged her to face therapy again — this time she stuck with it and eventually gained the strength to stop on her own terms. I taught her to drive, and she got her first license and car. I helped her earn her high school diploma so she could reach for better jobs. I convinced her to let go of cigarettes, and I watched her start keeping jobs longer than ever. Piece by piece, I saw her step into her own strength.

But then my world broke — my best friend Billy passed away. In my grief, I needed Keisha to be there for me the way I had been there for her. She couldn’t. And that’s when our friendship ended.

Even with the ending, I’ll never regret what we shared. Because Keisha’s transformation wasn’t just hers — it taught me too. It showed me the power of resilience, the importance of boundaries, and the truth that helping others doesn’t mean you stop needing help yourself.

Her story — our story — is a reminder that people can rise from anything with the right push, and that growth doesn’t erase our need for connection.

🌱 Lessons from Keisha’s Story
1. Resilience is contagious.
When you believe in someone’s strength, sometimes they start believing in it too.
2. Boundaries are a form of love.
You can give endlessly, but knowing when to step back is part of protecting your own spirit.
3. You can’t pour from an empty cup.
Even healers, helpers, and leaders need someone to lean on.
4. Transformation doesn’t always mean forever.
Some people come into your life for a season — and that season is still valuable.
5. Growth is proof, not perfection.
Helping someone change doesn’t require the story to have a fairy-tale ending.
6. Your story carries power.
What you’ve lived, lost, and learned becomes the blueprint for how you build and inspire.

About Torie & Torie Builds

I’ve always believed that growth comes from action, persistence, and a willingness to lift others as you climb. Over the years, I’ve built my life and my work around that principle — whether it’s helping friends overcome challenges, guiding people toward opportunities, or creating experiences that inspire confidence and independence.

Torie Builds was born from that same philosophy. I wanted to create more than a business; I wanted to build a platform where integrity, transparency, and excellence meet. Every project I take on reflects a commitment to quality, innovation, and the belief that small improvements can lead to big results.

Running Torie Builds is about more than delivering products or services. It’s about empowerment, problem-solving, and building trust. Every decision — from sourcing and designing to working with clients — comes from a place of care, expertise, and forward-thinking innovation. My mission is simple: to help people achieve their goals, elevate their experiences, and feel confident in their choices.
